That is mild compared to how I screen people who want to join the team I'm forming. And I use team in the literal sense, not group, party or anything else. If someone invites themselves into my group without a whisper, they get ignored as I just assume it's a blind invite. Blind invites for the lose. You show any kind of impatience, I tell you that if you are too impatiant to wait for people, you're free to leave any time. If you show any kind of stupidity, such as a healer in a lower area say Sanctum Cay or The Desert, TELLING me that we NEED another monk, they are kicked. Alesia will most likely do a much better job than they would. Same with another class that asks for another monk when we have a healing monk.
When I form a team, I am the leader. If you have issues with what the requirements are to be in my team, you are free to create one of your own or join another.
This has brought along a higher success to failure ratio than being flexible and lenient.

i have to say as soon as anyone says to me GOGOGOGOGO i just kick them, with no warning. Why?, well first because no one in there right mind would speak to someone like that out of the game and also because evertime i have taken them they dont even know the meaning of "teamwork".
Quote:
As soon as a bad apple joins the group and notices the henchies, he/she will either leave or complain loudly, in which case you kick them.
|
Agreed
I normally take a healer hench on any mission that will take more than half an hour. The one time i did listen to one of these henchie complainers the monk left half way through, and guess who left when he did.
I dont mind people asking to not take the healer hench or asking when were leaving, but when they start demanding they just get kicked.
Some people speak to others in this game in a way they wouldnt even dream of daring in real life.

Okay, elitism wasn't the best word for it.
I can see being picky or discerning when you party somewhere,
and no offense, but good luck getting a group that meets your
expectations in the areas you specified.
() Augry is full of morons.
() Ice Caves is full of morons.
() Ring of Fire (The mission) is ALWAYS chock full of morons.
() And Ascalon and LA....well the less time I spend there the better.
My log in/out point of choice is Hell's Precipice. Simply because it's
very rarely full of people, let alone stupid ones. People are a little more
organized there and think before they type....most of the time.
Given my monk has to shake off invites left and right if I wanna be left
in peace, but it's better than most places.
I can understand you being picky, but it's an MMO. A FREE MMO. Which
means no matter what morons will abound.
Good luck in the future.

Just replace that with "The entire world is full of morons".
And about the good luck finding a group that meets my expectations, I usually do. It takes some time and requires patience. But I'd rather stand there spamming "Looking for X for X to join our team" for about three hours than to go through and fail the objective countless times and spend days on it.

Coolsti- stop playing with people, and play with henchmen. Your problem will be solved. If not, suck it up and get used to it, you spoiled brat.

I think this can be very well applied for the post above, what do u guys think?
About the topic, I can see the point of OP who clearly states what he wants and then meets other people who just don`t do what they agreed on.
Ofcourse for the other players who didn`t run, I feel very sorry.

I am absolutely shocked that anyone could have a problem with coolsti's complaint. He forms groups by asking for people who want to use teamwork and not run. Why shouldn't he be upset at someone who joins his group that doesn't play the same way? Why in the name of everything holy would a runner join his group when he advertises for no runners?
It's a shame that online gamers don't have to take responsibility for their actions. It's a shame that people looking to have a good time have to deal with spammers. It's a shame that a group of mature players have to deal with the many immature players that care about themselves and nobody else.

First of all Coolsti... Thats looks like a very sweet cat!
About the subject:
There are at least 3 differend type of players who enter parties without minding too much about what the party leader tells about the quest. In your case:
1. The helpfull ones: They hear you telling 'no run' and they think [hmm, he probably does not know how to run, I'll show them] - and off they go!
2. Pure solo players: They dont care much about what you want, they just need to be there for one reason or the other, e.g. cacpturing a skill.
3. 'Anti players': the ones who like to enter games to pk and steal stuff. Thats not possible here, so they find other ways to annoy others.
For this reason you simply cant rely on pugs. Play it with friends, eventually with some henchmen, your guildmates...

You can fight your way there w/o going thru the Mursatt. Just take the running route, via the frozen river, thru the giants & shadow monkeys & whatnot. I personally prefer going thru the Mursatt tho. My Cursebearer Necro eats Mursatt like candy. =)

HIS elitism????? Its your super-duper running [email protected] that are overflowing in your posts. He has simply asked for a specific set of people with a similar objective. Nothing elitist about it. It is similar to a tank-beastmaster joining a trapper group in UW and screwing it up. Both can clean UW, but they have different means to do it. Its obvious that you believe runners are the best thing that has ever happened to GW, but there is nothing wrong if someone asks for people with similar intrests and has an equal right to get pissed off when lied to.

Thanks for the best wishes! I was indeed lucky last night with the Thunderkeep mission. Not my first time, been through with two other characters, so I knew what to do. We were 4 friends to start the group off, (I was the only one who did the mission before) so the task of getting a good team was easier this time around. I added the two henchy monks, then asked for people to whisper me if they wanted to join. Gosh, I hate this method, its like taking job applications! But I tried it this time, and I wound up rejecting the first few that whispered. The reason? The rest of the team agreed that we use the tactic to stay up near the king rather than try to guard the doors or stay below. The first few that whispered didn't agree to this. One warrior answered only that he knew the mission and knew how to win it. Great! What we didn't need in the group was two - possibly opposed - leaders. Well, I found two that sounded like good team players and so we were 2R, 1E, 1Me, 2W and the two henchy monks. Made some mistakes along the way and failed twice, the second time partly due to an Err=7 drop of one of the party, but we did it in glorious fashion on the third try. And had a great, harmonious time of it!
But I'm a bit off topic here. The intentions of my post were to vent a bit of frustration as well as to point out how predominant the concept of running has become in many facets of this game. The responses are very interesting. There is apparently a great difference in what people consider to be correct behavior when playing with other "unknown" teammates. Anyway, its a great game, I like playing GW, with and without pugs, I will be more careful in the future in choosing my parties, and, well, **** will continue to happen.

I became a leaver last night!
Running as a means to play this game has become so predominant, that it really is difficult nowadays to do the Elona Reach mission in the old-fashioned "correct" manner.
Last night my Monk character finally made it to the desert. I signed up as last person in the party (and only monk) and someone asked if we were running it. I said that I would not run it, and if someone did run, I would leave. Well, 4 others in the group were in agreement with that - no running. Enter the mission, get the first crystal, and whoosh, there goes one of our party members, just a green dot running towards the cut scene. The rest of us just standing there, messaging "where is she going?". Just as we thought our runner would die, the cut scene starts, bypassing those fun battles with the minotours, and any chance of doing the bonus. As soon as the cut scene was over (someone wanted to see it but that is ok with me) I said "bye guys, I told you I was leaving if you run" and I mapped back to town. Heh heh, and I was the only monk in the group.
Round 2: Now a warrior friend of mine joined. We got into a party and again we said quite clearly, we both leave if anyone runs. Just so they know this, so that the party could ask us to find another party if they did indeed want to run. They didn't, everyone agreed not to run. Enter the mission, and we start a fight with a group of minotour. Just before the battle is over, the cut scene begins. Someone took off and ran to the ghost with the crystal. After the cut scene my friend and I said our goodbyes and left the group.
Round 3: This time as the previous two we made it quite clear that we will leave if anyone runs. And again everyone agreed with that. And this time we did complete the mission without running. But shortly after the start one of the warriors in the group asked why we just didn't run instead. "It saves time" he insisted. But I think my reply to him sums it all up: "I don't play this game to save time, I play this game to enjoy it".
So I became a leaver last night! And as healing monk, I guess this must hurt a bit. But too bad. If someone wants to run, that is fine with me, but then they should find a party where everyone agrees. Or they should kick me and tell me to find another party.

Hey I don't blame you buddy, I love to fight battles the normal way, its a surefire way to get more gold and drops, and at the end of the day running is for the lazy, weak and/or boring.
I always tell people if I want to run a mission or not, if they run, I leave.
